One Step at a Time: Our Njangi Keeps Building Bamenda's Creative Future

Yesterday, Bamenda's creatives assembled once again for another powerful session of our Njangi. The room was filled with familiar faces and new energy as we gathered to discuss projects, share ideas, and dream together about the creative industry we are building in our city.
More Than a Meeting
Every session of our Njangi is more than just a gathering—it is a statement. It is proof that when creatives come together with purpose, trust, and collective ambition, we can move mountains. Yesterday was no exception.
From the moment we sat down, the energy was electric. Conversations flowed freely, covering everything from individual project plans to collective strategies for growing the cultural and creative sector in Bamenda. We talked about what's working, what needs improvement, and how we can support each other to reach new heights.
The beauty of these sessions is that they remind us we are not alone in this journey. We have a community that believes in us, invests in us, and pushes us to be better.
Dreaming Big, Acting Now
The discussions were rich with ideas and ambition. Members shared their visions for the future of their crafts and the industry as a whole. We explored:
- New project proposals – From music productions to fashion lines, film projects to spoken word performances
- Collaboration opportunities – How we can work together across disciplines to create something bigger than any of us could alone
- Skill sharing – Learning from each other's expertise in marketing, financial management, production, and more
- Market access – How to connect our work with audiences locally, nationally, and internationally
- Sustainability – Building systems that ensure our creative careers are not just passionate but profitable
- Every idea was met with encouragement, constructive feedback, and a willingness to help turn dreams into reality.
Supporting One of Our Own
As always, we contributed our funds and came together to help one of our members achieve a dream project in the arts. This is the heart of our Njangi—putting resources behind the visions of our fellow creatives, trusting that when one of us rises, we all rise.
The project we supported yesterday represents exactly what our cooperative stands for: creativity, excellence, and the belief that Bamenda's artists deserve the resources to bring their visions to life. We are proud to be part of that journey.
A Community United
The room yesterday was a beautiful cross-section of Bamenda's creative community. We had veterans who have been in the industry for decades, sharing wisdom and experience with younger creatives just starting their journeys. We had emerging talents bringing fresh energy and bold new ideas. We had entrepreneurs building businesses that will sustain not just themselves but the entire ecosystem.
This is what makes our Njangi special. It bridges generations. It connects disciplines. It builds a community that is stronger together than any of us could be alone.
Keep Building, Keep Going
As we wrapped up the session, the feeling in the room was clear: we are on the right path. The creative industry in Bamenda is growing, and we are proud to be part of that growth.
We left feeling inspired, motivated, and more determined than ever to keep pushing forward. Every session, every contribution, every idea shared brings us closer to our vision of becoming Central Africa's first member-owned creative fund.
We keep building. We keep going. We keep moving.
One step at a time. One day at a time.
The Road Ahead
Our journey is far from over. In the coming weeks and months, we will continue to:
- Grow our membership – Bringing more creatives into the cooperative
- Build our systems – Formalizing our structures and processes
- Support more projects – Investing in the dreams of our members
- Strengthen our community – Deepening the bonds of trust and collaboration
- Work toward our goals – Financing 50 member projects, building a shared equipment hub, and producing 25 export-ready Bamenda stories by December 2028
We are building something lasting. Something that will serve generations of Bamenda's creatives to come.
We are Bamenda's creatives. And we are just getting started.
