The Artist's Calling

To be an artist is not just a path—it is a calling.

And to answer that call is the very reason some of us rise,  dust off our wounds, and keep moving, even when the weight feels unbearable.

To be an Artist Human Rights Defender is to embrace a sacred challenge—

one that demands courage, tears, and unshakable faith.

Yet, it is also the truest proof that we were meant for this work.

This is why we were called in the first place.

The Ttaala Workshop reignited that fire in me.

It fortified my spirit, reminding me why I must keep speaking of society’s pains,  why I must keep raising my voice,  why I must keep speaking truth to power—no matter the cost.

There were moments I felt alone in this fight…

But then, at Ttaala, I met her—  a force of light, a storm of grace,

The Captain.

And this is who she is

A woman of unyielding strength and boundless compassion,

She is Lady Vanessa Dansowaa Aseye Donkor

a defender of dignity,  a warrior for justice,  a sculptor of hope.

With a degree in Human Resource Management and the soul of Certified Fashion Designer

She weaves together strategy and artistry, administration and liberation, because true change requires both hands—one to hold the ledger, the other to lift the oppressed.

Her relentless advocacy earned her the title Activist of the Year not for the glory, but because silence was never an option.

I stand boldly where others hesitate, fighting especially for women and the marginalized because freedom is not a privilege—it is a birthright.

As the founder of the Charway Omanye Foundation,She pours faith, hope, and love into action.

Together, she has:

 - Delivered dignity, gifting sanitary pads to street children and hawkers.

- Nurtured dreams, supporting schoolchildren and orphanages.

- Restored futures, empowering teen mothers with vocational skills for sustainable lives.

She is a feminist—unashamed, unwavering.

She believes in the power of every woman to rise, to reclaim her voice, to rewrite her story.

Her strength flows from her faith—She is a daughter of Christ, a devoted member of Faith AG Young Singles where women are nurtured to walk boldly in purpose.

When she is not advocating, I am creating, sketching, singing, writing, dancing because art, too, is resistance.

And in moments of solitude, she finds restoration,  reflection, and the quiet wisdom to keep going.

Her life is anchored in faith, feminism, justice, truth, growth, and service. She shines her light, to amplify the silenced, to live with intention,

and to remind the world that love and justice must win. This is not just her work. This is her calling.

And she will keep answering— every single day.
