You Can't Score Goals Without Knowing Your Team's History

You know that feeling when your team scores in a football match?  Or when ypur team lifts a trophy and the whole quarter erupts in celebration? Your chest swells with pride! You feel strong, like you can achieve anything. Why? Because you saw your team do it. You know it is possible.

Now, think about this: that same power—that belief that you can win—doesn't just come from a football pitch. It comes from knowing your own history.

It’s like a young footballer. If he knows his father was a legendary striker in his village, he walks onto the field with a different confidence. He stands on his father’s glory. He doesn't just hope to score; he expects to score, because greatness is in his blood. He knows it has been done before.

This brings us to a simple question: What was your father’s goal? What was your mother’s victory?

Do you know the battles your grandparents fought and won? Do you know the strength your great-grandparents had to have to build a life here? Their stories are your foundation. Knowing that you come from people who overcame hardship, who were clever traders, fierce defenders of their family, or gifted artisans… that knowledge becomes a pillar you can lean on. It anchors you for higher heights.

But if you don't know these stories, your foundation is weak. It’s like trying to build a house on sand. This is one reason why we sometimes feel stuck while others seem to move forward with ease. They are standing on the shoulders of giants they know. We are sometimes forced to study only the history of other lands, and we start to believe their victories are the only ones that matter.

But my brother, my sister, you only move towards what you know.

The good news? You can change this. Today. You don’t need a university degree. Start simple:

  •  Sit with your parents. Ask them, "What are you most proud of in your life?"
  •  Visit your grandparent's house. Ask, "Papa, Mama, what was life like for you? How did you make it?"
  • Find out their victories, their good attributes, their wisdom.

You want to change your future and achieve great things with more ease? Take a journey back to your past. Connect with your roots.

And if you find that the stories are lost—if there is no one left to tell you—then your path is different, but not impossible. It means you must be willing to work twice as hard. But also know this: the strength of your ancestors is still in your blood. Through quiet meditation, through listening to your spirit, you can still tap into that power. You can begin to create new, empowering stories for your own children. You can become the legendary ancestor they will thank one day.

So, go on. Discover the glory you come from. And then go add your own..
